Andy is a Springfield native, attending school here from kindergarten through high school. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Drury University in 1994, and then attended law school at the University of Missouri-Columbia. While at Law School, he was honored to be an associate member of the Missouri Environmental Law & Policy Review. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 2001, and upon graduation, began working as a Public Defender in Jefferson City, Missouri.
In 2003, he became a Special Prosecuting Attorney for Attorney General Jay Nixon and worked in the Division of Public Safety. In this position, he was responsible for conflict prosecutions for the northern and mid-Missouri geographical areas and focused primarily on the prosecution of sexual crimes and physical abuse cases done against children. In 2005, he became an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Boone County, Missouri. While there, he prosecuted sexual crimes and people accused of having perpetrated physical abuse against children. Throughout all these years of being a prosecutor, in each of his cases, he was strongly committed to the victims of these crimes and their families.
In 2010, Andy and his family chose to move "back home" to Springfield, where he could work to serve fellow Southwest Missourians. To continue his desire to assist families, he joined Pratt and Jensen, LLC, where he focuses on family law, guardianship law, and criminal law.
Andy's experience as a prosecuting attorney in the area of sexual crimes and cases involving children provides him extensive trial experience, as well as a unique perspective when dealing with family law cases at Pratt and Jensen. He understands both criminal and family law, and how the two may often overlap. He remains committed to assist each of his clients to reach the best solution to their issues.
He is also actively supporting the Springfield community. He is involved with several organizations in the Springfield area, including the local chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. He also serves the legal community by serving as the 2014 Family Law Committee Chair of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association.
